2023: Both the Local Competition and the Art Competitions are being paused for 2023. We hope that there may be some form of competition in 2024. Should you be interested in organising or running a competition for 2024, we'd love to hear from you!

Local Competition
The aim of the competition is to encourage local people to help make the town of Wimborne Minster a more attractive place in which to live, work and visit.
The competition is intended to be 'Fun' and open to anyone who lives within the town boundary of Wimborne Minster whether you have a beautiful hanging basket or pretty frontage, you are welcome to have a go. Trophies donated by local businesses and individuals are amongst the prizes to be won for several of the competition categories.
How to enter ...Step 1: From the list of Competition Categories select one or more that you would like to compete in.
Step 2: Download an Entry Form, or obtain a copy from the Tourist Information Centre, The Library and other outlets in the Town, or contact the Committee Chairman for a copy.

Judging will take place: TBC
The judges will be looking for: overall impression; variety of plants; good quality plants; general tidiness and absence of litter
Art & Poetry Competitions
Wimborne in Bloom hold an annual competition for both Painting and Poetry. These competitions are open to all who live or have a connection, through local organisations, with Wimborne. There are different categories dependent on age.
Art: The work maybe in any medium, see entry form for maximum size and the full set of rules. Prizes will be awarded and entries will be on public display in Walford Mill Craft Centre. Full rules and entry forms can be found here. For the Under 16s competition there will be prizes in six groups:
- Group F - Foundation
- Group 1 - Years 1 & 2
- Group 2 - Years 3 & 4
- Group 3 - Years 5 & 6
- Group 4 - Years 7 & 8
- Group 5 - Years 9, 10 & 11
Poetry: All you have to do is to write a poem with a title of "Festivals Of Wimborne" that is no more than 40 lines, and has not been previously published. Two categories: Under 18s and Adults. The competition is open to all residents and those connected with Wimborne through schools and local organisations. Full details on how to enter can be found here.
Closing date for both Art and Poetry competitions: TBC
Duck Race 2023
1000 Ducks bob their way down the river Allen, avoiding reeds, fish and bridges as they hurtle towards the finish line. Sponsor a duck for the chance of winning one of several cash prizes, all proceeds go towards Wimborne in Bloom funds.
