2015 Charities Fair Raises Over £4,000

27 Local Charities and Organisations, manning 36 tables took part in the Grand Charities Fair organised by Wimborne in Bloom and held in the Allendale Centre, Wimborne Minster on Saturday 14th November. Between them they raised over £4,000 for the various causes they represented. Stalls included those raising money for the Royal British Legion, Unicef, Friends of Wimborne Hospital and the Childrens Society. The Mayor also had a table raising money for his Charities. Before the Fair was opened by Town Mayor Cllr. Shane Bartlett there was a period of Silence to remember all those lost in the atrocities in France the evening before. We also remembered John Hare-Brown, Secretary of Wimborne in Bloom who had died recently and who worked tirelessly for Wimborne in Bloom.

Crowds at the Fair

"In spite of almost persistent rain throughout the day we had over 400 visitors", said Richard Nunn, Chairman of Wimborne in Bloom "and we hope that it gave the various Charities and Organisations represented an opportunity to sell their wares and publicise themselves".

Wimborne in Bloom itself had a successful table with four Hampers as prizes and also the proceeds from the entrance money. The overall amount raised for Wimborne in Bloom was approximately £1,800 (which is included in the overall total above) and this is thanks to Barclays Bank and their matched fundraising scheme under their work in the Community Programme.

Our next fundraising event is the Pre-Christmas Coffee morning being held on Saturday 21st November at the home Anthony and Christine Oliver, 34 Park Lane, Wimborne Minster from 10.00am until 12noon.All are welcome. Next years Charities Fair will be held on Saturday 12th November 2016
