2014 Wine & Wisdom Quiz

A tie-break question had to settle the winner of this years Wine and Wisdom Quiz Evening held at the Allendale Centre on Friday 7th March. It was the 21st Annual Quiz organised by Wimborne in Bloom and, thanks to Barclays Bank with their matched funding given under their work in the community programme, a sum approaching £2,000 was raised for this year's 'In Bloom' Campaign.

At the end of the evening two teams tied for first place and a tie-break question left the Priest's House Museum and Garden the winners and Saga Louts as runners-up. Unfortunately there was to be a twist in the tail as, during a subsequent review of the top teams answer sheets, an error in the scoring was uncovered. This reversed the result in Saga Louts favour which made the tie-break unnecessary. Wimborne in Bloom apologises and thanks both teams for accepting this correction most graciously. Another new team, Dream On, accepted 'The Loser Prize', each member receiving creme chocolate eggs.

The event attracted 35 teams from local Organisations and Groups who enjoyed 'pitting' their wits against each other and also the food and wine provided. There was also a very successful raffle which raised over £500.

During the course of the evening teams were also invited to take part in a Fun Table Quiz of Pictures entitled '50 years of BBC Sports Personality of the Year'. The joint top scores were Oakdale Oaks and Wimborne & Ferndown Lions.

Wimborne in Bloom thanks all who supported this community occasion and all who helped to make it a success and those who kindly and generously donated prizes for the raffle.

Next years Wine and Wisdom Evening has already been booked for Friday 6th March 2015.
